The name Menscorpore comes from a line of verse written by the Latin poet Juvenal. “Mens sana in corpore sano” means, literally, a healthy mind in a healthy body. By understanding the indelible interdependence between the physical self and the psycho-emotional one, we interpret human health as a dynamic equilibrium. Since its creation in 2014, Menscorpore has offered a variety of different programs targeting physical-emotional and social-relational well-being. The organization is headquartered in Treviglio, east of Milan, our family’s home.

“Awareness” refers to the ability to bring attention to the present moment, and then to maintain an attitude of generosity and openness to what happens both inside and out.

 

As has been shown by research, awareness practices can be extremely effective for reducing the stress and tensions that negatively affect our lives. 

 

Among other outcomes, participants will learn to:

  • decrease their reactivity to problematic situations
  • stabilize and bring order to their mental activity, limiting confusion and quieting their “inner voices”
  • improve resilience
  • increase empathy and the ability to recognize their own and others’ needs
  • consolidate emotional stability with a responsiveness to environmental demands

 

This Experience introduces participants to mindfulness through a number of simple practices that help cultivate awareness. The silent and evocative spaces in which these sessions take place (either indoors or outside, depending on the season and weather), help bring about a variety of states of well-being, including physical, emotional, and mental.
